State Bank of India (SBI) customers encountered disruptions in mobile and internet banking services today, marking the second outage this month. The technical issues impacted users across the country, making it difficult to complete mobile transactions and fund transfers.

Data from Downdetector indicated a sharp rise in outage reports between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM IST. Most complaints were related to mobile banking failures (64%), followed by fund transfer issues (33%) and ATM-related problems (3%). Many users turned to social media to express frustration over transaction failures and login difficulties.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) acknowledged that certain banks were experiencing transaction failures due to financial year-end processes. In an official statement, NPCI clarified, “Some banks are facing intermittent transaction declines due to financial year closing. The UPI system is functioning normally, and we are actively coordinating with the affected banks to resolve the issue.”
This isn’t the first time SBI has faced such challenges this month. On March 11, customers struggled to access UPI and mobile banking services for over four hours. The bank later confirmed that the issue had been resolved by 5:00 PM and apologized for the inconvenience caused. However, the exact cause of these recurring technical problems remains undisclosed.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been urging banks to strengthen their digital infrastructure to prevent such outages. Regulators have also emphasized the need for swift issue resolution and warned of strict actions against institutions failing to maintain seamless banking services.
